Hier, 28 juillet 2019, un Colombien, Egan Bernal, a gagné le Tour de France cycliste, soit la seule épreuve classée en catégorie 1 au UCI World Tour. Avant lui, en dehors des coureurs européens, seuls Greg LeMond et Cadel Evans avaient gagné le Tour.
Le Concours Pictet est donc bien plus universel que le Tour : la première victoire non-européenne date de 1991 (Canada), soit deux ans après la première édition, alors qu’il avait fallu attendre 83 ans pour le Tour de France. Et depuis 1989, la liste des victoires par pays s’établit comme suit:

Canada – 4
Royaume-Uni – 4
Suisse – 4
Australie – 3
France – 3
Israël – 3

Donc deux victoires sud-américaines, même si on attend encore une victoire colombienne au Pictet. Ceci dit, bien que la dernière participation colombienne remonte à 2009, il faut noter qu’un citoyen colombien a déjà gagné le Pictet, dans une équipe belge. À vous d’identifier en quelle année…
